GENERAL DENTISTRY

General dentistry is about maintaining the health of your teeth and gums so that they continue to provide the function that they were made for.

Tooth decay, gum disease, and tooth loss can all be prevented with a proper daily oral hygiene programme as well as regular check-ups at your Ralph French Dental Practice. Regular check-ups will identify issues early and avoid some of the major dental procedures outlined in this section.

You can avoid the risk of tooth decay, gum disease, and tooth loss by following a few basic rules!

Oral Hygiene Daily Rules

Rule 1. Maintain a good oral hygiene: Brushing at least twice a day and introducing regular flossing to improve the health of gums. These are your teeth for life, look after them!

Rule 2. Follow a low sugar diet. Avoiding soft drinks, bottled juices and everyday snacks is not only good for your health but good for your teeth and gums too. Excess sugar build-up creates cavities & decay, providing premature aging of strong teeth.

Rule 3. Wear a mouthguard when playing sport. Contact sport is the perfect storm for active people to have unnecessary trauma. The mouthguard protects the teeth from cracks & breaks and protects the gums from cuts & abrasions.

Rule 4. Regular visits to the dentist. Every 6-months, it is best to get a dental check-up. Our system reminds our patients when it is best for their particular mouth, to come and see us, and how often!

If you can follow these basic guides then your teeth should stay with you as long as you need them.
